【Famous Medical Practitioner's Heritage】Yimin Wu's Letter of Apprenticeship

Respected Master and Grandmaster,

I am Wu Yimin, eighteen years old, from Connecticut, USA, and currently a student of the Acupuncture and Tuina program, Class of 2025, at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I was born into a family of traditional Chinese medicine. My grandfather, Wu Muqing, inherited the lineage of the Fengyang School. My father, Dr. Wu Mingjie, has continued this path of healing. I am now the fourth generation to carry on this tradition.

Since childhood, I have witnessed my father leaving home at 7:30 every morning to see patients, often returning only at eight or nine in the evening. His passion and devotion are wholly dedicated to the medicine he loves. I have also seen how deeply patients in America respect and appreciate him. My father heals not only the body but also the heart—guiding patients with the wisdom of Daoism and Buddhism to seek the true cause of illness. Through internal herbal prescriptions and external therapies such as Tuina and acupuncture, he unblocks meridians and restores balance. He also teaches qigong and tai chi to help patients strengthen their foundation and nurture both body and mind.

Now, as I begin my journey into the vast world of Chinese medicine, I am keenly aware that the ocean of knowledge has no end and my foundation is still shallow. With humility and sincerity, I pledge to study diligently and seek guidance earnestly. I aspire to inherit and promote the Daoist Fengyang tradition of Chinese medicine —to heal the sick, bring comfort to others, and honor both my family lineage and my teachers’ grace.

With utmost respect, I bow and sincerely request my Master and Grandmaster to accept me as a disciple and offer your kind instruction. I also hope to learn and grow under the guidance and support of my senior brothers and sisters.

Respectfully submitted,

Disciple: Wu Yimin
