Tea Preparation Instructions

  1. Boil water. We recommend using spring water for optimal taste.

  2. Add tea leaves. Place one tea package (or a portion of loose leaves) into a clay teapot.

  3. First rinse: Pour boiling water over the leaves, and steep for only 3 seconds before pouring out the tea. Discard this first batch (don’t drink it), the first rinse is to wash the tea.

  4. Proper brewing: From the second steep and onward, continue to steep tea for only 3 seconds before pouring it out. This high quality tea releases flavor intensely and quickly. Over-steeping will compromise the fine flavor.

  5. In later infusions, gradually increase the steeping time up to 30 seconds for the final brews.

Old Tree Da Hong Pao yields 10-15 infusions, producing approximately 1 quart (1 liter) of tea in total.
